The VP’s first trip abroad ran into a hitch.
For her first international trip as the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris departed from Joint Base Andrews on Air Force Two this morning. Her destinations are Guatemala and Mexico, to lead diplomatic talks with the Northern Triangle countries in the former and address the high number of Mexican immigrants coming across the US’ southern border in the latter. Unfortunately, the trip got off to a rocky start when, only thirty minutes into the flight, Air Force Two was forced to turn around and return to Joint Base Andrews.

According to the official report, the turnaround was caused by an undisclosed “technical issue.” The plane was able to land just fine at Joint Base Andrews, with the passengers, Harris included, no worse for wear.
“I’m good, I’m good. We all said a little prayer, but we’re good,” Harris said with a thumbs up after the plane landed.

Harris boarded another plane and took off without incident. According to her itinerary, she’ll be spending the next two days meeting with the Presidents of Guatemala and Mexico to discuss the aforementioned matters, as well as the pandemic, natural disasters, poverty, and other concerns.
