Joe Biden announces Kamala Harris as VP running mate
The presidential race is between President Donald Trump and Joe Biden, but a familiar face is returning to the 2020 General Election as Joe Biden announces Kamala Harris as his running mate for Vice President. Harris initially entered the race for the 2020 election as a presidential candidate but decided to withdraw from the race due to campaign funding.
Analysts predict that Harris will be a formidable candidate as she has prior experience with the 2020 election and has three election wins in California. If Biden wins the race, Harris will make American history as the first Asian American and Black vice president. Harris has already made history as being the first woman of color to be on the ticket for a major party.
Biden wanted to choose a running mate to contest against President Trump’s rhetoric that is inciting racial division on his campaign trail and in the White House. Biden feels that Harris will exhibit all the qualities he’s looking for in his running mate who is a long-term governing partner and a thrilling campaigner.
Harris met Biden through his late son Beau Biden who was a fellow former state attorney general when she was working in the same position. The demo running duo is already gaining support from other politicians including the former president, Barack Obama.
I’ve known Senator @KamalaHarris for a long time. She is more than prepared for the job. She’s spent her career defending our Constitution and fighting for folks who need a fair shake. This is a good day for our country. Now let’s go win this thing. pic.twitter.com/duJhFhWp6g

Obama has a long-standing relationship with Biden and has endorsed his campaign since the beginning. Obama endorsed Biden’s VP pick on Twitter saying, “This is a good day for our country. Now let’s go win this thing.”
Harris’ family has a political background with both of her parents participating in the 1960s marches during the Civil Rights Movement. Harris openly supports the Black Lives Matter movement with involvement in demonstrations this summer and helped Democratic efforts to pass police reform.
The Trump campaign is already claiming that Biden chose Harris to have an advantage for his campaign in regard to political and racial issues. The Trump campaign has already created ads targeting Harris as a “radical leftist” and calling her “phony Kamala.”
