Wednesday night saw a major nail-biter game between the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays. The game had gone into an extra inning with 4-4 tie, but at the top of the 10th, the Rays rocketed ahead with three runs. As the home team, the Yankees got their last licks for the bottom of the 10th, needing a whopping four runs to bring things back. As it so happened, though, that was exactly what third baseman Josh Donaldson had in store.

In the bottom of the 10th, Donaldson went up to bat with the bases loaded. Against most expectations, not to mention probability, he knocked it out of the park, resulting in a bona-fide Grand Slam. With all four runs coming in at once, the Yankees secured a dramatic come-from-behind walk-off victory against the Rays.

“The guys were pumped, and I think as we talked about how the game progressed and how the back-and-forth battle happened there, we came back with our backs against the wall,” Donaldson said after the game. “There was a release of some joy and frustration.”

“Just a great fight all night. Obviously it has not been easy for us,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. “We’re in the fight and we keep fighting, and great to see that level of at-bat when it looked like it was stripped from us.”
