There was plenty of jokes and even a few tears were shed on Thursday night as “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart appeared on his last show, ending a 16-year run that established him as one of America’s foremost satirists of politicians and the media.

His final show happened to be on the same date as the first Republican presidential debate, but quickly turned into a reunion of correspondents who have appeared on the program over the past 16-years.

Many were sad to see the host leave while others showed their support including Jon’s family and celebrities such as Ellen DeGeneres who took to Twitter stating, “no one has made news so funny, or made comedy such big news.” Hilary Clinton also took to Twitter tweeting, “Missing Jon Stewart already.”
