Jaden Smith Gives Back For His Birthday

Jaden Smith, the son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, isn’t celebrating his birthday by downing his first legal drinks. Instead, he’s handing out food to the homeless in Los Angeles from his food truck, called the I Love You restaurant.

“@ILoveYouRestaurant Is A Movement That Is All About Giving People What They Deserve, Healthy, Vegan Food For Free. Today We Launched Our First One Day Food Truck Pop-Up in Downtown LA. Keep A Look Out Because This Is The First Of Many,” Smith wrote on his Instagram account, @c.syresmith.

Los Angeles has a rapidly growing homeless population. According to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, approximately 50,000 people within the city limits live on the streets, often in filthy tent cities that are breeding grounds for communicable diseases, such as typhus. Politicians in Los Angeles and California at large have declared homelessness a crisis that needs to be addressed immediately.

In the meantime, Jaden Smith is doing what he can to help. Fans commended his empathy and generosity on Instagram.

“This is epic and so inspiring!!! Thank you for giving back to the community you kind soul,” @madsluzzo wrote.

This is not Jaden’s first charitable endeavor. In March, he collaborated with a church in Flint, Michigan, to distribute clean water to the troubled city, which experienced a crisis when its water supply became heavily contaminated with lead.
