Katy Perry seems that she wants to be remembered for doing things in a totally different and novel way. At least that’s what she appears to have attempted when preferring to announce her next studio album – fourth in line – Prism. That Perry emblazoned the title and date of release – 10-22-13 – on a glittering golden tractor-trailer makes it clear that the sexy pop star is quite particular to be innovative. When the semi-truck sped through the streets of Los Angeles, there were many who were confused and bewildered. Perry has her own style when it comes to dealing with her albums, and this time it looks she’s going all out to get the headlines.
A Three Year Wait
Three years is a long wait for Perry’s ardent fans who have been left dry since 2010 when her album “Teenage Dream” created tremendous sensation all around the world. In fact, it was a record-breaking effort, selling more than six million copies all over the world. Her maiden stint “One of the Boys’ which hit the stands in 2008 went on to gain a platinum sales certificate, not only in the US but also in the UK, thereby getting Perry wide recognition and announcing the arrival of a new pop giant in the music world. As the records stand, seven of her last eight singles went on to reach the top 10 in the UK, while six of them took the top slot in the US.
#PRISM
It seems that the entire music world has gone craze about Perry’s new launch. Or, at least that’s what one would believe when going by the response from her fans, who continue to post their clippings of the Prism lorry on popular social media sites, including Facebook and Instagram. It means Perry’s message on Twitter which read “Find the #PRISM semi, take a picture and I’ll RT you” looks like having been received extremely well. Perry is simply non-stoppable when she goes on to tweet: “Don’t worry, LA is just the first stop on the map”.
Title has Hidden Message?
Although 28-year-old Perry may or may not have chosen the title for her new album with any particular intention, but there’s a more or less unanimous feeling that it goes well with what whistleblower Edward Snowden had to disclose on the NSA’s Prism surveillance program not more than a couple of months ago. If so, Perry has been smart enough to make full use of one of the prime political issues that has drawn international attention. As it is, Perry is known the world over for expressing open support for the rights of gays and universal healthcare. Interestingly, she also did not hesitate to throw her lot behind the campaign for a revolutionary change in US society. By all means, millions of music lovers will find it hard to resist their temptation to wait till the 22nd of October for the release of Prism.
