Graham Warns Against Biden For Upcoming Presidential Election

Lindsey Graham, a Republican Senator from South Carolina, told “Face The Nation” that the GOP underestimates presidential candidate Joe Biden “at their own peril.” Former Vice President Biden is the front-runner among more than twenty Democrats running for president in 2020.

President Trump has derided Biden as out-of-touch and past his prime, nicknaming him “Sleepy Joe” and “Sloppy Joe.” During the first round of Democratic debates last week, other candidates, especially California Senator Kamala Harris, attacked Biden for his centrist positions throughout his long career in politics. Harris accused Biden of opposing school integration in the 1970s and negotiating with segregationists.

Still, Biden remains number one in the polls, several points ahead of runners-up Bernie Sanders, a Senator from Vermont, and Elizabeth Warren, a Senator from Massachusetts. Therefore, Republicans should stop dismissing Biden as “Sleepy Joe,” Graham said.

“The narrative is that maybe it’s not his time and that he’s not up to the task,” Graham told “Face the Nation.” “I think you will underestimate Joe Biden at your own peril.”

On the same program, Graham said he thought Kamala Harris performed exceptionally well in the debates, saying, “She’s got game.”

The next Democratic debates will take place at historic Fox Theater in Detroit, where the large pool of candidates will again be split into two debate groups.
