Several officials condemned the court for attempting to overturn Roe v Wade.
Over the last several days, crowds of protestors have gathered in front of the United States Supreme Court to condemn the Justices for attempting to overturn Roe v. Wade, the ruling that guarantees federally-protected abortion rights. These protests arose due to a drafted opinion by Justice Samuel Alito leaked by news outlet Politico showing the court’s intent to overturn the ruling.

Multiple Democratic governors, lawmakers, and officials have joined the protestors calls condemning the Court, speaking of the importance of female bodily autonomy. “I am furious – furious that Republicans could be this cruel, that the supreme court could be this heartless, that in legislatures across the country, extreme Republicans are ready for their trigger bans to go into effect,” Washington Senator and female rights advocate Patty Murray said at the US Capitol. “It is craven and we won’t stand for it,” she added. “I’m not going to sit quietly and neither should any of you.”
International human rights groups say overturning Roe v. Wade would put the U.S. behind the curve of other countries that have been expanding abortion care access — like Argentina and Mexico.https://t.co/CjdCHJ6Srx

“People elected Democrats precisely so we could lead in perilous moments like these- to codify Roe, hold corruption accountable, & have a President who uses his legal authority to break through Congressional gridlock on items from student debt to climate,” New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter. “It’s high time we do it.”
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has pledged to push forward a vote that codify Roe v. Wade, though the odds of this vote passing at the current stage are low.
