Not only are there a lot of famous actors named “Chris,” but at least three of them are focused in a single place: the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It gets to the point where not only fans, but even the Chrises themselves can get a little confused about who’s who. This was the joke being referenced when Chris Hemsworth sent birthday wishes to his Avengers co-star Chris Evans on his Instagram.

“Happy 40th birthday Chris Evans, you’ll always be number 1 in my book,” Hemsworth wrote on his post. The confusing thing, though, is that the photo he posted doesn’t depict him with Evans, but rather with another Avengers alumni, Chris Pratt of Guardians of the Galaxy. This was likely a deliberate joke, as the three Chrises are often a focal point of social media memeing. Some fans even remarked that Hemsworth should take another photo with the unofficial “fourth Chris,” Chris Pine. Pine was never in any of the Avengers movies, but he did voice Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, so he’s got a tangential relation to the MCU, at least.
