Why was Trump cameo removed from Christmas movie classic?

Donald Trump makes a famous appearance in the classic Christmas film Home Alone 2. In the film, which takes place in New York City, Trump is seen giving directions to the main character, played by McCaulay Caulkin. However, it seems not everyone is thrilled at Trump’s cameo in the film: the Canadian Broadcasting Company removed Trump’s scene from the movie before airing it during the holidays.

The CBC said they deleted the scene “to allow for commercial time within the format.” But many viewers weren’t buying it and took to social media to accuse the channel of political bias.

“In a prime example of absurdity, CBC Cuts Donald Trump’s Home Alone 2 Cameo From Broadcast,” Cynthia P. Garrett, a prominent San Diego attorney, tweeted. “Don’t love Trump, but come on folks – Your hysteria over this man has risen to evangelical fervor. Guessing he’ll be scrubbed from history books too?”

“You guys are the biggest bush league ‘journalists’ of all time. Editing out Trump’s cameo in Home Alone 2. What kind of state-sponsored bulls–t is that? #Defund,” another user wrote.

Others applauded CBC’s decision to cut Trump, saying he doesn’t need any more media attention these days.

Trump didn’t comment on the controversy. Instead, he used his personal Twitter account to send holiday well-wishes and tout the strong economy.

“2019 HOLIDAY RETAIL SALES WERE UP 3.4% FROM LAST YEAR, THE BIGGEST NUMBER IN U.S. HISTORY. CONGRATULATIONS AMERICA!” Trump tweeted.
