The New Democratic Candidate For 2020 Presidential Election

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is the latest Democrat to announce he is running for President in a very crowded field of primary candidates. Like Joe Biden before him, de Blasio has already attracted the ire of President Trump, who called the candidate “a joke.” De Blasio fired back at the President as the two traded insults on Twitter.

“The Dems are getting another beauty to join their group. Bill de Blasio of NYC, considered the worst mayor in the U.S., will supposedly be making an announcement for president today. He is a JOKE, but if you like high taxes & crime, he’s your man. NYC HATES HIM!” Trump tweeted.

De Blasio responded with a touch more decorum.

“NYC has record low crime & record high jobs. We’re investing in working families with free Pre-K & guaranteed health care. #ConDon taking advantage of working families is no joke. Go to http://BilldeBlasio.com to join our campaign. As President, I’ll put working people first,” de Blasio tweeted.

More than twenty-five Democrats are running for President in 2020, making it one of the biggest primary fields in recent memory. De Blasio isn’t the first candidate President Trump has slammed on Twitter. He called former Vice President Joe Biden “Sleepy Joe,” refers to Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders “Crazy Bernie,” and reportedly also deemed Beto O’Rourke “a joke.”
