Jared Leto S1:E7
Meet Walter Isaacson, an American writer and journalist. He is the president and CEO of the Aspen Institute, a nonpartisan educational and policy studies organized based in Washington. He has also been the chairman and CEO of Cable News Network (CNN) and managing editor of Time. By writing biographies on many people such as Steve Jobs and Albert Einstein, he really starts to understand how others view the world, as we know it.
Walter has experienced and got the chance to watch the world through a close lense at CNN, which made him able to formulate an opinion of his own. One of the biggest questions Walter has is whether technology is going to end up being our friend or end up being our enemy. There are people out there who Walter has studied who believe in a singularity in which suddenly the machines, the robots, the artificial intelligence, surpass us and realize that they simply don’t need us anymore creating there own universe leaving humans behind. But that’s what happens to species the eventually become extinct.
Technology has the possibility to help us figure out how to keep our planet safe, how to deal with carbon, and whatever the next problem might be. With that being said, it will only be as good or as bad as we make it. And how do we get to a society that we all dream about having? Well Walter makes his point plain and simple. We have to stop being so uptight and worrying about problems that we will never understand.
A wise man who goes by the name of Steve Jobs once said, “Technology is nothing. What’s important is that you have faith in people, that they’re basically good and smart, and if you give them tools, they’ll do wonderful things with them.” The future belongs to those who stand at the intersection of beauty and technology.
