Zeus Makes Lily’s Dream Come True

10-year-old Lily Biagini is an amputee, as well as a survivor of the Santa Rosa Tubbs wildfire in California. When she and her family were evacuating from California, her prosthetic legs were destroyed in the fire. Now living in Arlington, Texas, Lily has had some difficulty adjusting to her new legs. Luckily, she’s got a friend in a tall place.

Lily was visited by Zeus McClurkin, a player for the famous Harlem Globetrotters, shortly after the fire, and the two reunited in Texas for an impromptu b-ball lesson. While she enjoys basketball, Lily’s prosthetics make it difficult for her to perform traditional jump shots.

The Globetrotters, masters of unconventional court work, have no shortage of tricky techniques to overcome any kind of hurdle. In lieu of a jump shot, McClurkin taught Lily one of his secret weapons: his patented “bounce shot,” in which the player bounces the ball hard onto the ground at an angle so it flies right into the hoop.

Lily and her mother have been invited by McClurkin to come see the Globetrotters play in Texas in November.
