Trump Blasts Twitter With Anti-Impeachment Messages
On Monday, President Donald Trump defended himself against Democratic calls for impeachment, saying he has created the best economy in U.S. history. On Sunday, Rep. Green told MSNBC that he is “concerned that if we don’t impeach this president, he will get re-elected.” Trump took Green’s statement as a cue to hit back on Twitter.
“Democrat Texas Congressman Al Green says impeachment is the only thing that can prevent President Trump from re-election in 2020. @OANN,” Trump tweeted, retweeting a headline from One America News Network. “In other words, Dems can’t win the election fairly. You can’t impeach a president for creating the best economy in our country’s history.”
Trump maintains that he has not broken the law and Democrats have no grounds on which to impeach him.
“Also, there are ‘No High Crimes & Misdemeanors,’ No Collusion, No Conspiracy, No Obstruction. ALL THE CRIMES ARE ON THE OTHER SIDE, and that’s what the Dems should be looking at, but they won’t. Nevertheless, the tables are turning!” Trump tweeted.
However, Rep. Green is doubling down on his calls for impeachment proceedings.
“From firing Dir. Comey to suing Deutsche Bank, Pres. Trump has consistently attempted to suppress the truth. We know the adage ‘the truth will set you free.’ America needs the truth that will set us free from a reckless, ruthless, lawless president! #IndictTrump #ImpeachTrump,” Green tweeted last week. On Sunday, he reiterated the message, tweeting, “Not only is the soul of our country at stake but the soul of Congress is at stake if we do not impeach this reckless, ruthless, lawless president.”
