The former basketballer dedicated the win to his mother.
Last night, the current iteration of Dancing with the Stars reached its conclusion with the final victor being none other than former NBA player Iman Shumpert. Teamed up with pro dancer Daniella Karagach, Shumpert got a perfect 80/80 score from the judges, only beating out the second place contestants Jojo Siwa and pro Jenna Johnson thanks to the number of fan votes.

At the end of the show, Shumpert announced that he would be dedicating his victory to his mother, whom had just tested positive for COVID-19. “I apologize for being a little bit emotional,” he said, dedicating the trophy to his mother who couldn’t be there. “I hope Chicago’s watching this!”

Siwa and Johnson also got perfect 80/80 scores, making history of their own as the first same-sex couple on the show, something they took pride in. “Coming here and being the first same-sex couple, I think people didn’t know what to expect,” Siwa said. “And winning the mirrorball is not just winning…for me … It’s winning it for so many people around the world to be themselves, everybody in the world, no matter who you are, no matter who you love, you can dance with who you want to dance with. Because you were born the way you are.”
