Kicks made the difference about 30 miles apart on I-95 on Sunday. The New Orleans Saints won 24-23 in Baltimore over the Ravens when Ravens kicker Justin Tucker missed an extra point for the first time in his college and pro careers (spanning 316 PATs). Drew Brees became one of just four NFL quarterbacks with 500 career TD passes.
Just to the south, the Washington Redskins held on to first place in the NFC East with a 20-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. A disputed penalty moved Dallas’ attempt at a tying field goal back five yards and the 52-yard kick caromed off the goalpost.
The Los Angeles Chargers beat the Tennessee Titans 21-20 in London as the Titans, with a chance to tie, attempted a two-point conversion to go for the win and failed.
The Philadelphia Eagles squandered a 17-0 lead in the fourth quarter to lose 21-17 to the Carolina Panthers. The Cleveland Browns played their fourth overtime game of the season (one shy of the record) and lost 26-23 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as Chandler Catanzaro kicked a 59-yard field goal.
And the Los Angeles Rams remained the NFL’s only unbeaten team, flattening the San Francisco 49ers 39-10.
