The unnamed woman was thought to be targeting pregnant woman to kidnap her newborn

A Texas woman has been charged in the kidnapping and murder of Heidi Broussard. Police say they made the arrest after discovering a body, believed to be Broussard’s, in the trunk of a car.

Heidi Broussard and her one-month-old daughter, Margot, went missing on December 12. They now believe Broussard’s friend is responsible for the kidnappings and for Broussard’s murder. Police have not released the suspect’s name, only identifying her as a “Houston woman” and close friends of Broussard’s. They found the newborn inside the woman’s home, unharmed.

Police say the woman had been faking a pregnancy to coincide with Broussard’s pregnancy and had plotted to kidnap the newborn and raise her as her own.

Heidi Broussard’s fiance, Shane Carey, called the police in Austin after school officials called and told him Broussard had never picked up her older son from school on December 12. When police searched the home, they found Broussard’s car, driver’s license, and diaper bag in her home. But there was no trace of Broussard or Baby Margot.

“The alleged suspect is being held on $600,000 bond while investigators look for other possible suspects that may have taken part,” Fox News reported. “Authorities do not believe Broussard’s finane played a role in her disappearance at this time.”
