Woman Goes Viral After Refusing To Allow Man To Enter Apartment Building
Hilary Brooke Mueller from St Louis, Missouri has been fired from her job after videos have emerged of her refusing to allow a black man to enter his own apartment building.
24 year old, D’Arreion Toles was coming home after a long day of work on a Friday evening when a Mueller blocked his route to get into the building and refused to move.
Toles then took out his phone and began to record the encounter with her. He started by saying: “You’re blocking me.” Before the woman replied: “Into my building”, Toles quickly responded stating: “It is my building as well so I need you to get out of my way.”
The deliberation continued for some time before Mueller said: “Do you live here? I’m uncomfortable.” The 24 year old replied with some wise words, he said: “You can be uncomfortable, that is your discretion. You are uncomfortable because you are you.”
After a lot of back and forth, Toles was finally able to get into his building, Mueller watched him as he entered his flat before receiving word that the woman had called the police!
The following day, Toles posted the video on his personal Facebook page and since then the clip has been seen more than 10 million times and has over 145,000 shares.
Although the post did not identify the woman, it was later revealed that her name is Hilary Brooke Mueller. Real estate management company, Tribeca-STL was Mueller place of work and they were very swift with releasing a statement about the video. It read: “The Tribeca-STL family is a minority-owned company that consists of employees and residents from many racial backgrounds.”
It continued: “After a review of the matter the employee has been terminated and is no longer with our company. At Tribeca-STL we want all residents, guests and visitors to feel welcome, safe and respected.”
Toles was quick to express to his viewers that his actions were all about turning a negative situation into a positive, he said: “We only get one life so let’s make the most of it and be great, no time for negativity.”
