Another Amy Winehouse Movie On The Way

On the heels of the recently announced Amy Winehouse hologram concert tour, her family has signed a deal to produce a new biopic based on their daughter’s life, career, and death.

The head writer of the project will be Geoff Deane, who previously worked on the musical ‘Kinky Boots.’ The film will be produced by Alison Owen and Debra Hayward, and the executive producers will be the Winehouse family themselves. As with the hologram tour, profits from the film will go toward the Amy Winehouse Foundation to aid troubled youths. Mitch Winehouse said that the family had been approached several times before about the possibility of a biopic, but they felt that time was simply not right.

A rumor has circulated that performer Lady Gaga would have the starring role as Amy, but Mitch Winehouse has denied it, saying he would rather have a little-known, British actress who resembles Amy and can portray her the way he remembers her.

Filming for the movie will begin in 2019. A new Amy Winehouse documentary, ‘Back to Black,’ will be releasing in theaters in November.
