Americans Refuse To Embrace The World Cup

The World Cup is the most watched international sporting event of all time. More than 3.2 billion people watch it. So why are Americans not watching? Is it because America didn’t qualify? Or is it just because Americans have no interest in soccer whatsoever?
Either way, we have no dog in this fight and Americans’ egos are too big to watch a sport they don’t have any part in.

While Americans may not realize it, the World Cup is an amazing time for an international connection and camaraderie. The sporting event matters tremendously to fans around the world. To avoid the tournament all together is to avoid international connections. The whole world believes that there is something so simple and beautiful in the game of soccer. So rejecting to watch it because of your ego is pretty much saying “no” to the whole human family. Sports bring the human community together, and walking away from the largest and most loved sporting event in the world is questionable.
