The Primetime Emmy Awards which gives credit to the best TV shows aired in the primetime slot will reach its climax and culmination tonight, September 22. The awarding ceremony will take place in the grand Nokia Theater, Los Angeles.

Below are some of the predictions on who and which shows might get to take home the Emmy statue home. Take note, these are just predictions. After all, it is still the Emmys – an awarding event that is not devoid of any surprises!

Outstanding Drama Series

Among the nominees for this category – Breaking Bad of AMC, Downtown Abbey of PBS, HBO’s Game of Thrones,  Homeland on Showtime, Netflix’s House of Cards and AMC’s Mad Men – everyone is rooting for Breaking Bad simply because it is, recently, TV’s most talked about show. Being that, it is probably also its best show.

Drama Lead Actor

This category has Hugh Bonneville, Bryan Cranston, Jeff Daniels, Jon Hamm, Damian Lewis and Kevin Spacey pitted against each other. Though, many believe Mad Men star Jon Hamm should get the Emmy for this category this coming 22, critics think Kevin Spacey of House of Cards is luckier. After all, the TV panel loves crossover – the ones from movies that go into TV – actors.

Drama Lead Actress

Claire Danes of Homeland is a tough contender to beat with in this category as she was crowned last year’s top drama royalty. However, critics believe Kerry Washington of ABC’s Scandal will emerge as the Drama Lead’s present winner as they see that the right momentum and buzz goes in favor with her this year.

Outstanding Comedy Series

Among the nominees, most see The Big Bang Theory as the sure winner as the comedic stint of the year. It is no.1 in TV’s comedy rates so it is the safest choice for the win. However, FX’s Louie with its courageous comedic originality is something to look out for.

Comedy Lead Actor

The nominees for lead actors in the comedy genre includes Alec Baldwin, Jason Bateman,  Jim Parsons, Matt LeBlanc, Louis C.K. and and Don Cheadle. While Louis is a bet of many for the win, the panel will most likely choose Parsons since his acting prowess had been proven before as he is an Emmy veteran.

Comedy Lead Actress

Emmy Poehler of the 30 Rock show is a top rival in this field. Her brilliant comedic acting skills surely are not missed by the voters for this category. However, there is also Louis-Dreyfus to think about. Her strength as Emmy’s darling is something that should not be placed at the back burner.

Miniseries or Movie

While Jane Champion’s Top of the Lake mini-saga comes out strong in this division, it doesn’t come out without tough competition, in the form of the Liberace sage, Behind the Candelabra. Before the two, the latter seems to be the strongest bet for the win.

The lead actor Emmy for the mini-series category might also be bagged by recently controversy-riddled Michael Douglas.

Well, the world will see who will win what this coming Sunday. CBS will air the event live.
