Your Weekend Sports Fix

The World Cup has already seen its share of upsets, so make sure you catch some of the favorites before they must pack their bags and leave Russia.

Mexico is one of those upset-minded squads, having beaten defending champion Germany in its opener. You can catch El Tri taking on South Korea on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET on Fox. When Sweden beat South Korea 1-0, it scored its first goal in the World Cup since 2006. The Swedes meet Germany on Saturday at 2 p.m., also on Fox. Make the coffee, grab a muffin and plant your heiner in the recliner. If you are lucky you will see a goal scored.

Mississippi State has had a great run in the College World Series and the Bulldogs go up against Oregon State on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. ESPN will show this.

NASCAR’s weekly paint exchange takes place at California’s Sonoma Raceway on Sunday with the Toyota/Save Mart 350. It’s on FS1 at 3 p.m. You don’t want to miss this one … unless you do.

The NBA draft is over, but the NHL grabs the stage on Friday night with the first round of its draft in which players you’ve never heard of go to teams you never see. NBC SN televises the meat market at 7:30 p.m.

The second- and third-place teams in the National League East, the Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies, meet on Sunday night at 8 p.m. on ESPN. That will be a pleasant way to see the weekend out.
