A Sports Filled Weekend Ahead

We’ll put breakfast at Wimbledon at the top of the menu for your Weekend TV Six-Pack. It seems so civilized, even though it’s at a ridiculous hour (even on the East Coast).

Saturday’s ladies singles championship will be shown by ESPN at 9 a.m. ET. Can Venus Williams, at 37, win a sixth title? She’ll play Garbine Muguruza of Spain. The men’s semifinals are being contested Friday, and the championship match will be played Sunday at 9 a.m. ET.

The United States’ men’s soccer team wraps up Group B play in the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Saturday vs. Nicaragua. The U.S. comes off a 3-2 win against Martinique. The match with Nicaragua is on FXX at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

For those who like the guys who go round and round while thumping bumpers, NASCAR takes over New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Overton’s 301 on Sunday at 3 p.m. (and not 3:01 p.m.) NBC Sports shows this.

Baseball returns from the All-Star break on Friday night. We’ll offer up the New York Yankees-Boston Red Sox game on Sunday night at 8 p.m. on ESPN. Four hours of baseball should send you off to dreamland.

To prep for next week’s 146th British Open, catch the final round of the Scottish Open on Sunday at 10 a.m. on the Golf Channel (switching to NBC at 12:30 p.m.)

Added bonus: The Tour de France concludes on Sunday. It’s always dramatic to see the winner – our money is on Great Britain’s Chris Froome again – to see the riders cruising through Paris. Tune in to NBC Sports at 7:30 a.m. You know after a month on hard saddles those fellows will be looking forward to parking their heiners in their recliners.

Enjoy.
