A Sports Filled Weekend

We’re trying to fit more than six into a Weekend TV Six-Pack. There’s got to be a way, with so much going to.

Solution: We’ll take the three World Series games (Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET on Fox) and just count them as one. Yes, we can so do that! The Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs will play at Wrigley Field and no one under the age of 75 has ever seen a World Series game at Wrigley.

Once you’ve parked your heiner in the recliner, you may be inclined (or reclined) to just sleep there. We’re going to jump ahead in time to Sunday morning, when you can have breakfast in bed (or the recliner) and watch the Cincinnati Bengals play the Washington Redskins in London. Not exactly strawberries and cream at the All England Tennis Club, but this is what is being served at 9:30 a.m. on Fox.

Assuming you haven’t moved in 12 hours – and with a good pizza delivery service, why would you? – you can tune in to watch two of the top rookie quarterbacks duel in a big NFC East game when the Philadelphia Eagles and Carson Wentz play the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott. That’s at 8:30 p.m. Sunday night on NBC.

No, we didn’t forget Saturday and college football. We love No. 4 Washington (7-0) at No. 17 Utah (7-1). Huskies QB Jake Browning’s numbers are sick – 26 TD passes, 2 INTs. The Washington defense has held five opponents to 17 points or less. FS 1 has this matchup in Salt Lake City at 3:30 p.m. No. 3 Clemson (7-0) at No. 12 FSU (5-2) may pique your interest. A loss will take Clemson, which hasn’t been impressive, out of the top four with the College Football Playoff rankings starting next week. ABC’s got this at 8 p.m.

NASCAR’s round of eight in the Chase for the Sprint Cup is at Martinsville Speedway for the Goody’s Fast Relief 500. That’s at 1 p.m. Sunday on NBC Sports Network. Your eight still in the chase are Joey Logano, Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch and Kurt Busch.
Treat your remote with care and dignity. Watch responsibly.
