Another Sports Filled Weekend
Kick off those shoes and get that heiner in the recliner right now.
Yes, you.
There are two college football games this very Friday evening, and they will be the first tops we pop on our Weekend TV Six-Pack.
At 7 p.m. ET, No. 14 Miami (2-0) visits Duke (4-0). A bit less than two years ago, the Hurricanes beat the Blue Devils on an eight-lateral kickoff return for a touchdown on the final play, one so replete with missed calls that the officiating crew was suspended by the ACC. ESPN has this one, and follows it with …
No. 5 USC (4-0) at No. 16 Washington State (4-0). These teams average around 500 yards of offense apiece, so don’t blink. Kickoff is 10:30 p.m.
You like battles of the unbeaten? Saturday night brings us No. 2 Clemson (4-0) at No. 12 Virginia Tech (4-0) in the ACC opener for the Hokies. This one’s on ABC.
The final round of the Presidents Cup golf tournament hits NBC at noon on Sunday, which will provide a nice segue from the New Orleans Saints-Miami Dolphins game from London at 9:30 a.m. on Fox. The Saints can score but not stop anybody; the Dolphins are tough against the run and can’t score.
NASCAR winnows its field in the Monster Cup Energy Series to 12 drivers at Dover on Sunday. That’s at 2 p.m. on NBC Sports Network. Qualified so far: Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson and Brad Keselowski. Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth are the next closest to securing berths.
Added bonus: Try to find a Miami Marlins game as they close out the season with three games against the Atlanta Braves and watch Giancarlo Stanton, who has 59 home runs, make a run for his 60th.
The Weekend TV Six-Pack is eclectic. Hope it’s electric.
