Biggest NFL playoff games of the year and more
Two doubleheaders of NFL playoff action. I can’t ask for much more than that. This is truly heiner in the recliner time.
Saturday features the Minnesota Vikings (11-6) at the San Francisco 49ers (13-3) and the Tennessee Titans (10-7) at the Baltimore Ravens (14-2). The first game is at 4:35 p.m. on NBC, with the nightcap at 8:15 p.m. on CBS. The Ravens led the NFL in scoring behind dynamic quarterback Lamar Jackson. Minnesota and San Francisco have met five times in the playoffs, with the 49ers winning four of those.
Sunday’s pair of matchups: Houston Texans (11-6) at Kansas City Chiefs (12-4) and Seattle Seahawks (12-5) at Green Bay Packers (13-3). The first game is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. on CBS, with the late game on Fox at 3:40 p.m. The Texans beat the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium 31-24 in Week 6. The Seahawks and Packers met in the 2014 NFC Championship Game, with Seattle coming back from a 16-point halftime deficit to win in overtime and advance to the Super Bowl.
Winners advance respectively to the NFC and AFC conference championship games Jan. 19. Super Bowl LIV (that’s 54, not Liv as in Liv Tyler) is Feb. 2 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
If your preference is for a round ball and college athletes, try No. 4 Baylor at No. 3 Kansas on Saturday at 1 p.m. on CBS. KU has won nine of the last 10 against the Bears.
Like an even smaller ball? The PGA Tour’s Sony Open in Honolulu wraps up on Sunday with coverage on Golf Channel from 6-10 p.m.
