A Sports Filled Weekend Ahead

The constant unfolding of games in the NCAA Tournament makes it difficult to pick the best matchups and make recommendations. So as we did last week, we’re going to leave some of the elements of the Weekend TV Six-Pack up to you.

We trust you to do the right thing.

Pick the teams you like, or the ones you love to root against. Pick the best matchups. Your call. We will provide you with a few other options for those moments when your eyeballs want to take in something other than very tall people (and eyedrops).
NCAA Basketball: Syracuse at Notre Dame
You may gently drop your heiner in the recliner on Friday night for the USA’s appearance against Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic. Puerto Rico comes off an upset of the Dominican Republic and the U.S. rallied for a comeback win over Venezuela on Wednesday night. The game is in San Diego and will be televised by MLB Network at 10 p.m. ET.

NASCAR’s Camping World 500 at Phoenix Raceway hits the air on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. on Fox. Joey Logano won at Phoenix last fall and he’ll be worth watching after his pit road fisticuffs with Kyle Busch in the race at Las Vegas. Neither was penalized by NASCAR for the brief scuffle.

The Arnold Palmer Invitational is being conducted for the first time without its namesake, who died last September at 87. Golfers conducted several tributes to Palmer during the week. Sunday’s final round begins on Golf Channel from 12:30-2:30 p.m., then moves to NBC from 2:30-6 p.m.

College hoops will surely be the main draw, as very few folks have filled out NASCAR or PGA Tour brackets. Do what you will. Enjoy every minute of it.
