Thursday Night Recap
Before the preview, the review of Thursday Night Football …
The Seattle Seahawks pounded the San Francisco 49ers 20-3 in Santa Clara, Calif., with Marshawn Lynch rushing for 122 yards and a touchdown. The Seahawks held the 49ers to 142 total yards and allowed only eight first downs. The 49ers had the ball 11 times and punted nine times.
And now, let’s pop the tops on the weekend TV six-pack …
BASEBALL
The Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals play Game 6 of their American League Championship Series on Friday night at 8:07 p.m. in Kansas City. The Royals lead the series 3-2. David Price (18-5) will pitch for the Jays, still looking for his first career postseason win as a starter (0-7, but two wins in relief). Yordano Ventura (13-8) goes for the Royals.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL
No. 15 Texas A&M (5-1) at No. 24 Ole Miss (5-2): This is the only game this weekend matching ranked teams. The winner stays on track in the SEC West, while the loser will be thinking about saving its season.
No. 6 Clemson (6-0) at Miami (4-2): The only two teams left on Clemson’s schedule that appear capable of creating a problem for the Tigers are Miami and Florida State on Nov. 7, and the FSU game is at Clemson.
NFL
New York Jets (4-1) at New England Patriots (5-0): The Jets were 1-4 a year ago but appear to be a different team under new coach Todd Bowles. The Patriots? Same as it ever was.
Dallas Cowboys (2-3) at New York Giants (3-3): Matt Cassel makes his first start at quarterback for the Cowboys, who are 0-3 without Tony Romo. The Giants were awful in a 27-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) at Carolina Panthers (5-0): The pundits kept saying the Panthers hadn’t beaten anyone, so they went to Seattle and rallied in the final minute to beat the Seahawks. The Eagles are erratic and QB Sam Bradford turns the ball over too much (nine interceptions).
