Are You Ready For Some Football?
The Thanksgiving weekend just boasts of football. And so will we. No distractions with golf or basketball right now. Just football.
Your heiner, no doubt, hasn’t left your recliner since early Thursday. Stay where you are and have others bring you food and liquid refreshment. Consider it an entitlement.
And so, time for your (extended) Weekend TV Six-pack…
For a rivalry that splits Washington (ah, not really), catch No. 5 Washington (10-1) at No. 23 Washington State (8-3) on Friday at 3:30, thank you Fox Sports 1. The Huskies are still marginally chasing a spot in the final four but it’s a stretch.
For a rivalry that runs deep and also features the likely NCAA champions, tune into the Iron Bowl. This intrastate battle features No. 1 Alabama (11-0) against No. 13 Auburn (8-3). Alabama has won the last two and will, win or lose, meet Florida for the SEC Championship. This one belongs to CBS at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Surprising No. 9 Colorado (9-2) is host to No. 22 Utah (8-3) Saturday and a victory by the Buffaloes gives them the Pac-12 South title and a conference championship game Dec. 2 in Santa Clara, California. Fox will show this at 7:30 p.m.
We’ll do one more college game, then give you a pair of NFL games.
Saturday night in Tallahassee, Fla., should be fun, with No. 14 Florida State at home against No. 15 Florida at 8 p.m. on ABC. We do like a storied rivalry. Florida is still offensively a nightmare.
It’s thin gruel in the NFL with three games already played on Thursday. We’ll try, though.
Check local listings or find a sports bar to see the New York Giants (7-3) at the Cleveland Browns (0-11). Why? The Giants have won five straight; the Browns have lost 14 in a row dating to last season. You never know when a streak could end. Fox, 1 p.m.
And Sunday night the Kansas City Chiefs (7-3) visit the Denver Broncos (7-3). This is a biggie in the AFC West, where both are a game behind by the Oakland Raiders. NBC, 8:30 p.m.
All football, all this weekend. Plenty of time for hoops later. But you’ll be able to find plenty now if that’s your thing.
