Getting Ready For The Weekend Of Sports

The two best teams in the NFC get together on Sunday in what may be a preview of what’s to come in the playoffs.

The Los Angeles Rams (8-0), the last unbeaten team in the NFL, play the New Orleans Saints (6-1), who have won their last six, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Saints just knocked off the Minnesota Vikings, another touted contender, and they’ve scored 30 or more points in four of their games. The Rams have done that six times. They meet at 4:25 p.m. ET on Fox.

Your NFL appetizer on Sunday (check local listings for your team) might just be the struggling Atlanta Falcons (3-4) at the Washington Redskins (5-2). The Falcons are battered on defense and desperate to get back in the playoff race, while the Redskins have won three straight and lead the NFC East. Fox shows this at 1 p.m.

Your heiner will certainly be in the recliner for Saturday’s college football action, and there are some good ones, two of them in the SEC.

At 3:30 p.m. on CBS, No. 6 Georgia (7-1) and No. 11 Kentucky (7-1) – these are the College Football Playoff rankings – meet in Lexington for the SEC East title and a berth in the SEC Championship game. See this on CBS at 3:30 p.m. The big enchilada is No. 1 Alabama (8-0, coming off a bye) against No. 4 LSU (7-1) in Baton Rouge.

Another of interest, in the Big Ten: No. 14 Penn State (6-2) at No. 5 Michigan (7-1) at 3:45 p.m. on ESPN.

NASCAR’s playoffs, with berths in the final four at stake, continue at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday in the AAA Texas 500 at 3 p.m. on NBC SN.

Let the fun begin.
