College Basketball Headlines

The Big Ten men’s basketball tournament, a week earlier than usual because it is being held at New York’s Madison Square Garden, comes to an end on Sunday. We’re going to guess that Michigan State makes it through to the final. If so, you will want to watch the Spartans and whomever at 4:30 p.m. ET on CBS.

If you’re a true devotee, you can catch the semifinals on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., also on CBS.

The regular season nears it close for other teams. No. 23 Kentucky at Florida on Saturday at noon on CBS should be an interesting Southeastern Conference matchup.

What else will keep your heiner in the recliner?

Well, we’ll give you one oddity. College lacrosse. Yes, college lacrosse. Saturday morning at 11 a.m., No. 8 Notre Dame takes on No. 2 Maryland on the Big Ten Network. If you’ve never watched, give it a try. These are two sound teams in a fast, physical and strategic game.

We’ve got a fun NBA matchup on Saturday night, with the Boston Celtics meeting the dangerous Houston Rockets at 8:30 p.m. on ABC. Saturday night also has another entry in the NHL’s Stadium Series, with the Toronto Maple Leafs playing the Washington Capitals at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, Md. NBC shows this outdoor treat at 8 p.m.

The guys who go round and round go to Las Vegas for NASCAR’s Pennzoil 400 at 3:30 p.m. on Fox. You get 267 laps of fender-bending fun.

The World Golf Championships at Mexico City, in that thin air, should continue to feature long hitting from the tee. The final round is Sunday and NBC has it at 2 p.m.

An eclectic list, no? You’ve also got the option of watching all manner of coverage of the NFL scouting combine on NFL Network throughout the weekend. If you’re bored, it’s your own fault.
