Game Preview For Your Weekend
There are few sights as stirring in college football as the annual Army-Navy football game.
The Cadets and Midshipmen in the stands. The pomp. And the knowledge that these players are going not to the NFL but into their nation’s service.
Army – the United States Military Academy – has won the last two meetings, after dropping 14 in a row to Navy – the United States Naval Academy. Army is 9-2, with a seven-game win streak behind it. Navy has struggled through an uncharacteristic down year, with a 3-6 record and no wins on the road.
CBS will show this meeting of the Black Knights of the Hudson and the Middies at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday.
The NFL has a pair of solid offerings on Sunday (check local listings). The Los Angeles Rams (11-1) play the Chicago Bears (8-4) in a battle of division leaders. The Rams clinch a first-round playoff bye with a victory. This one’s on NBC at 8:20 p.m. You can warm up earlier in the day with the Philadelphia Eagles (6-6) against the resurgent Dallas Cowboys (7-5) at 4:25 p.m. on Fox. This game could determine who wins the NFC East and the Cowboys have won their last four while the Eagles have socked away two in a row.
Your primo men’s college basketball game of is Sunday at 3 p.m. on ESPN, where No. 1 Gonzaga is host to No. 7 Tennessee. Two other goodies go head to head on Saturday – No. 9 Kentucky vs. Seton Hall at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Fox and No. 10 Michigan State at Florida, with CBS doing the honors. Both tip at noon.
Your heiner and your recliner need to get together. When joined, they are a powerful force for TV sports ratings.
