A great weekend of action-packed sports with a review of all the top games and matchups
This one is the tradition. It’s Army-Navy college football on Saturday in Philadelphia at 3 p.m. ET on CBS.
The Black Knights of the Hudson. The Midshipmen. Pomp. Ceremony.
Army (5-7) owns a three-game winning streak against Navy (9-2), which had beaten the Cadets 14 straight before that. You won’t see nearly any of these players moving on to the NFL – their career paths will be far different.
You’ll certainly be seeing more of the four candidates for the Heisman Trophy – in bowl games and the NFL. The award ceremony is Saturday night at 8 p.m. on ESPN. LSU quarterback Joe Burrow is the favorite. The others: Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts, Ohio State QB Justin Fields and Ohio State defensive end Chase Young. The four nominees all play for teams in the College Football Playoff foursome.
Your best bet in the NFL is the Buffalo Bills-Pittsburgh Steelers meeting. Heiner in the recliner time is 8:20 p.m. on Sunday. The Bills (9-4) need only to beat the Steelers (8-5) to clinch a playoff berth. The afternoon pick: The Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans. Both are 8-5, and the AFC South title could hang in the balance.
Saturday’s best college basketball option looks like No. 10 Oregon vs. No. 5 Michigan. Oregon could scoot way up in the polls with a victory after losses this week by No. 1 Louisville, No. 4 Maryland and the Wolverines. CBS shows this at noon.
Tip-off the weekend on Friday night with some NBA. We offer you the Los Angeles Lakers at Miami Heat on ESPN at 7 p.m.
Bonus: The final round of the 2019 Presidents Cup from Australia – the singles matches – can be seen Saturday on Golf Channel from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Have all the fun you can stand. And then some.
