What You Missed This Weekend

Carson Wentz did it again. The Philadelphia Eagles’ second-year quarterback threw four touchdown passes in a 51-23 over the Denver Broncos, giving the Eagles (8-1) seven straight victories and the Broncos (3-5) their fourth straight loss.

The Redskins stayed in that NFC East hunt by defeating the Seattle Seahawks 17-14. The injury-riddled Redskins (4-4) scored the winning touchdown with 59 seconds left and then stopped a final drive by the Seahawks (5-3).

The New Orleans Saints won their sixth straight and improved to 6-2 with a 30-10 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Los Angeles Rams (6-2) made a statement by hammering the New York Giants 51-17 on the road. The Giants fell to 1-7, though Eli Manning surpassed 50,000 career passing yards.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Alabama (9-0) remained No. 1 in the Associated Press poll and Georgia (9-0) stayed at No. 2. Notre Dame (8-1) moved up from fifth to third after beating Wake Forest. Clemson (8-1) moved up from fourth to sixth after beating North Carolina State. Oklahoma’s wild 62-52 win over Oklahoma State moved the Sooners (8-1) up to No. 5. The second College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Tuesday night. Georgia was No. 1 last week and Alabama No. 2.

ELSEWHERE: Kevin Harvick earned a spot in the NASCAR Monster Energy Series finale two weeks hence at Homewood-Miami Speedway with his win on Sunday in Fort Worth. He finished ahead of Martin Truex Jr. … The Atlanta Hawks, who had won their NBA opener and then lost eight straight, topped the Cleveland Cavaliers 117-115. … Patrick Cantlay won the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas on Sunday in a playoff for his first PGA Tour triumph. … Gun Runner won the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Delmar on Saturday.
