U.S. ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White became the first Americans this past monday to take home the gold in their event

The Canadian pair won silver, followed by the Russians with bronze.

White and Davis skated with athletic precision and artful musicality to the Russian composed piece, Scheherazade.

Charlie and Meryl have had their sights set on winning gold in this event for 4 years, ever since they came in second to the Canadian team of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir in 2010.
