Money Saving Tips
Check out these money-saving tips before you set sail on a cruise.
1. Budget for unexpected vacation costs. The price you were quoted on most cruise websites is not what you’ll end up paying in the long run. Make sure you also budget for taxes, port charges, onboard activities, tips, shore excursions, and your bar bill. Don’t forget about Wi-Fi charges and souvenirs!
2. Negotiate better price packages. Many cruise lines often have prepaid packages that include extras like shore excursions. However, before you purchase one of these “deals” make sure you compare packages from competing cruise lines. Be sure to get their package details in writing. Therefore, you can show the other offers to the cruise line you are considering in order to get a better price.
3. Use technology to track price drops. Use an app like Shipmate or a website like CruiseLine.com to track fare changes. If you look at the cruise’s price protection policies, you might be eligible to receive a lower fare or an onboard credit for the difference to use for your onboard expenses. Keep your budget and your bank account afloat after you return to shore with these money saving tips.
