The Live Action Dumbo Trailer Debuts The Mood Of The Movie

Tim Burton’s twist on any animated film, such as Alice in Wonderland, can take many dark, unexpected, and fantastical twists and turns. We are expecting nothing less from his next project: a live-action remake of Disney’s Dumbo. Today, the first teaser trailer debuted for the 2019 release starring Michael Keaton, Colin Farrell, Eva Greene, and Danny Devito.

If you’re expecting a page-by-page retelling of the 1941 animated classic, brace yourself. This remake is going to be focused on the family and human drama centering around the dwarf elephant. None of the animals will have speaking roles, unlike other Disney remakes such as The Jungle Book. Burton has taken his own route with the film and wants to create a unique project that feels just as unrivaled as his imagination.

Highlights from the trailer have Norwegian singer Aurora singing a new version of “Baby Mine” in a melancholic and somber tone that haunts throughout the 1 minute and 20 second teaser. The CGI of Dumbo shows just how realistic this film is setting to be, and there are a ton of The Greatest Showman vibes throughout the trailer, with scenes of circus dancers coordinating routines and, eventually, a shot of Dumbo taking flight that is sure to give all Disney-fanatics the chills.

Dumbo is set to debut in theaters March 29th, 2019.
