Flexible Phones

Foldable phones are a dream for those with massive screens or just super tight jeans, and now Samsung is taking us one step closer to the real thing. Flexible displays have been around for a while now, but have many limitations. This week Samsung is expected to release its first stretchable display. According to information released by the tech giant, Samsung will release a phone with a 9.1-inch panel, which will be able to bend in both directions, can be rolled and can even be dented up to a half an inch because it will return to its original form.

This stretchable panel could potentially expand to the size of a small tablet, which would prevent you from having to carry around large bulky devices. Samsung may even develop a thin smartwatch that would be more durable. Additionally, Samsung is working on improving the virtual reality world of technology. It has developed a 1.96 inch 4K LCD, which has 2250 pixels per inch density, making it a huge improvement on the visual screen of a virtual reality headset.

Other companies looking to get into this market are LG and Lenovo. Samsung is reportedly hoping to release the prototype for this new phone by the end of 2017, but the phone may not be released for public purchase until 2019. Big things are expected from Samsung, the creator of the first curved screen smartphone.
