The Twilight Zone Is Making A Return
The Twilight Zone, the critically acclaimed show that aired in the 1960s, will soon be revived for television. The show will air on CBS, and Peele will host and narrate the series, and his company, Monkeypaw Productions, will be producing. The show had been revived in the 80s, early 2000s, and a movie was also filmed, but none saw the same amount of adoration from fans as the original series.
Jordan Peele won an academy award for best original screenplay for his film, “Get Out,” a mystery thriller that garnered much attention for the writer who had previously only been known for comedy writing. Along with Keegan Michael Key, he co-starred in the comedy central series Key and Peele, and he had previously written and performed on the television show Mad TV, another sketch-comedy series. Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions produced, “Get Out,” a current series, “The Last OG,” and announced that they would be reviving The Twilight Zone last year.
Peele has spoken publicly about his respect for Rod Sterling, creator and host of the original Twilight Zone, calling him a visionary. Often, The Twilight Zone would shed light on social issues that, at the time, would have been difficult to discuss on television. Rod Sterling was incredibly progressive in his writing, and Peele states that he is honored to, “carry on his legacy.”
The revival is scripted for CBS in 2019 and for more details on the return of The Twilight Zone check out the video above.
