Energy conservation is no longer a thing to be thought of in future terms. It is a concept that is being taught in schools, in employee training programs and global campaigns are being erected to save sustainable energy. Products are now “green” and economically friendly, resources are being made to last long and transportation has undergone a renovation in terms of power and fuel.

One such product that is trying to make it into the markets is “Elf”, the electric vehicle that is powered by the sun. It is a hybrid vehicle designed to work through the power of the sun as well as mankind, through pedaling. Having started off as a pledge on Kickstarter, Elf has been designed to get its driver from point A to B in an innovative, energy sufficient way. It is a hybrid between a bicycle and a smart-car, and uses pedaling as well as solar power to function. It has been created by a highly creative team of innovators calling them Organic Transit, who claim to be the future of urban economically friendly designs in mobility. This team aims to innovate commuting for people who wish to be wary of their environment and to give back to it, thus producing Elf.

The vehicle itself is slim, but sturdy enough to withstand traffic on busy roads or dirt trails. It also has spacious interiors for passengers or cargo, and comes equipped with lights, signals, mirrors and a strong electric motor that feeds off solar rays. The motor is also resilient enough to go uphill on full throttle, and can provide a boost when needed whenever one is on the commute. Furthermore, it has a lithium battery pack that is rechargeable through various methods, the most popular being rooftop solar panels. If one wishes to go with standard recharge options that is also available. The base price is also quite affordable at $4000 dollars, with two designs available to interested buyers. The hybrid vehicle has only been in the market for a short time, and thus has not reached the levels of promotion it should to achieve mainstream attention. It is not a mass market product yet since there are other options available for electric cars, but the one thing that sets apart Elf from mass marketed products is that it is a self-sustained project with a very manageable design. It isn’t a bulky, huge car and isn’t going to add to the clutter of busy roads, but is sturdy enough to withstand the same obstacles that bigger cars can. Additionally, it does not require the hassle of specialized plug-in recharge devices that other, bigger electric cars require. It needs minimum maintenance and is quite stylish and eco-friendly.

One of the biggest reasons you should consider before deciding on whether or not you should buy Elf is that, the technology is proven and is not relatively new. From a technological stand-point, there should not be any hitches in maintaining or repairing the vehicle if need be, especially since it requires lesser detail than other, bigger electric vehicles. There should be no hesitation in buying this product from the performance point of view either, since it is proven to be fast. Not only this, since it is a relatively small vehicle it can navigate through jams or roads where traffic is cluttered. The product is convenient and eco-friendly, on top of which it requires little maintenance.
