Black people love fried chicken. Is that even true?

You know all the jokes – never get in the way of a black man and his fried chicken, all black people eat fried chicken, etc. But where did that stereotype come from?

Comedian Mike Epps is exploring this topic in the first episode of his new series ‘That’s Racist’. Why is it that when most people think of fried chicken they automatically picture a black person eating it? Where did that come from?

Well as it turns out there is a little history to this stereotype that reaches back all the way to the days of slavery. The workers on the plantations did not have a lot to work with so they often fried chickens because it did not need to be refrigerated and it could last awhile.

But let’s be real people – only black people eat fried chicken? C’mon EVERYONE loves fried chicken. This episode really studies how this stereotype came to be, but also works on debunking it.

Sure black people love fried chicken, but so do white old Jewish men and Asian women and everyone in between. It’s 2015, lets drop the stereotype and admit that people of all ages and races love a good meal from KFC sometimes. I know I do!
