The New Music Video Is Record-Breaking

YouTube has confirmed that Taylor Swift’s new single, “ME!”, is a record-breaker, garnering 65.2 million views within 24 hours of its release on Friday, April 26th.

“YouTube confirms that this feat makes Swift the solo and female artist with the biggest 24-hour debut on YouTube to-date,” Billboard.com reports. “The ‘ME!’ video marks the most impressive 24-hour debut ever for Swift, trailed by the 43.2 million views her “Look What You Made Me Do” video notched during its first day. ‘ME!’ also received more likes in its first day than any of Swift’s earlier music video releases.”

The video features Brendon Urie of Panic! At the Disco, and shows Swift playing a French-speaking femme fatale who fusses over her two cats. Weeks before the song’s release, Taylor released a mysterious “countdown clock” featuring colorful butterflies.

When the video finally dropped and YouTube announced she’d broken a record, Taylor took to Instagram to thank her fans for making it happen, as well as the dancers who appeared in the video.

“GUYS!! YOU DID THIS!!!! CANNOT STOP SMILING,” Taylor tweeted. She also wrote to her backup dancers, “A huge thank you to the incredible dancers for making the video so magical and for keeping the secret for so long!”

According to Billboard.com, Taylor Swift has 33 million subscribers to her YouTube channel, making her one of just eight musicians to have more than 30 million subscribers.
