Taylor Swift Is Officially A Music Icon

Taylor Swift launched her singing career when she was just a teen. Now, she’s being hailed as an inspiration to other teens. Taylor Swift will receive the “icon award” at the Teen Choice Awards, Fox network announced.

“As one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with more than 50 million albums sold, Taylor Swift is a pop culture icon whose accolades and achievements go beyond topping music charts and selling out stadiums worldwide,” the network said. “Swift is also one of today’s biggest social influencers, using her voice and platform to inspire and create positive change.”

At 29 years old, Taylor Swift has won ten Grammys in the short course of her career. She’s had a rough year so far. In June, music mogul Scooter Braun, whom Swift describes as a “bully,” purchased the rights to Swift’s music catalog, without giving her the option to buy her own music. But she’s had her wins in 2019, too: She released her album “Lover,” which includes hit singles “ME!” and “You Need to Calm Down.” Later this year, Swift stars in “Cats,” a film adaptation of the iconic musical.

The Teen Choice Awards will appear on the Fox Network on Sunday, August 11, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. It’s hard to think of a young star more deserving of the Icon Award than Taylor Swift.
