The Thursday Night Recap

Full weekend of sports on TV ahead, but first a quick recap of Thursday’s festivities …

The New York Giants protected a double-digit lead for the first time this season and defeated the Washington Redskins 32-21 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Both teams are 1-2. Eli Manning passed for 279 yards and two  touchdowns for the Giants, who also blocked a punt for a safety.

And at the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Henrik Stenson shot a 7-under 63 to take a two-shot lead over Paul Casey. Jason Day’s 69 left him in a tie for 11th.

Golf is on through the weekend, with the final round on Sunday. So that’s one for your six-pack. NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway airs at 2 p.m. on Sunday. That’s two.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

No. 9 UCLA (3-0) at No. 16 Arizona (3-0): Something’s got to give in the Pac-12. Bruins QB Josh Rosen has been slipping since a brilliant debut and the defense is without three injured starters.

No. 8 LSU (2-0) at Syracuse (3-0): The ‘Cuse hasn’t started 4-0 since 1991 and likely will not. Tigers running back Leonard Fournette averages 8.2 yards a carry. He’s worth seeing.

NFL

Cincinnati Bengals (2-0) at Baltimore Ravens (0-2): An AFC North matchup of great import. The Ravens have lost twice on the road.

Atlanta Falcons (2-0) at Dallas Cowboys (2-0): Brandon Weeden starts at QB for the Cowboys with Tony Romo (shoulder) out. Ack. Matt Ryan has thrown for 661 yards and three touchdowns for the surprising Falcons.
