Android Nougat

Version 7.0 of Google’s operating system for phones and tablets is here! This is what you need to know about the mobile software’s major changes. Google devices such as Nexus 6P and the Pixel C Tablet were the first to receive the new operating system. When the operating system updates, things should run much smoother and faster.

The first update you will notice is under notifications. You can reply directly in an alert and you can expand some notifications to do more with them right from the pull-down menu. Another major change is split screen mode. You can work on two apps at one time. You can also double tap the “recents” button if you want to flip through your two most recent apps. Google hasn’t left out the fun stuff either.

There are emojis that have either been completely updated or are brand new to Android. There are also differences between the operating system on tablets versus phones. On a tablet, you can have your split screen apps open horizontally rather than vertically on the phone. Also, if you put your phone in your pocket or purse, the phone puts your apps to sleep so that you save battery power.

Additionally, Google says that Nougat is going to bring all kinds of new virtual reality to Android phones. Android Nougat’s changes work below the surface with a few extras sprinkled in. Look for updates starting this fall!
