Giuliani laughs at allegations on Fox News

As part of the impeachment inquiry into President Trump, Democrats on several House committees sent subpoenas to Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani. But on Fox News on Monday, Giuliani laughed off the subpoenas, saying “they seem to forget I’m a lawyer.” Giuliani says he has attorney-client privilege in this case.

“Wake up, Democrats. You are covering up corruption, and by the time this is over, you’re going to be the party of corruption,” Giuliani said on Fox News. “[They] seem to forget that I’m a lawyer. If I were defending a terrorist, they’d be going crazy that I was called before a committee.”

Later in the day, Giuliani tweeted a response to Congressional Democrats that was more serious and measured in tone. He said he would give the subpoenas “appropriate consideration.”

“I have received a subpoena signed only by Democrat Chairs who have prejudged this case. It raises significant issues concerning legitimacy and constitutional and legal issues including, inter alia, attorney client and other privileges. It will be given appropriate consideration,” Giuliani tweeted.

Meanwhile, Trump maintains that the impeachment inquiry is a “witch hunt” by desperate Democrats who failed to uncover impeachment-worthy conduct in the Mueller Report. The Mueller Report, conducted by special counsel Robert Mueller, looked into whether Trump had colluded with Russian operatives to influence the 2016 election.
