The Legend Of Ghost Moose

A US couple have spoken for the first time after seeing the rare ghost moose while on a trip in Canada. Nicole Leblanc was driving in Ontario with her husband, Maurice Lamothe when two ghost moose crossed the road in front of their eyes.

They quickly got their phones out to video the stunning animals, the couple described the moment as ‘beautiful.’

They have since posted the videos on social media and have been overwhelmed with the response that they have received. The video has been viewed almost four million times and has had over 90,000 shares.

Nicole wrote: “What a beautiful sight! This is what we saw on Saturday on Hwy 101 West about 15 minutes from Foleyet.”

She the spoke to a local media outlet, she said: “My husband has been hunting for years and it is the first time he has ever seen the albinos. He was so excited.”

This white moose are often referred to as ‘ghost’ or ‘spirit’ moose and have a recessive gene which causes them to have a different color. Although, they are rare in North America, there is a much greater chance of seeing one in Scandinavian country, Sweden.

The ghost moose is so rare in the Province of Ontario that hunting of any moose that is more than 50 per cent white-colored in the region is banned.

Some animal loves were not as happy with the couple giving out the location of the rare animals. One user wrote: “Hunters will flock there to try and kill them. You shouldn’t have said where you saw them.”

Before another user posted: “Wish this wasn’t shared now people are going to poach them.”
