Penn Station Renovation For Larger Station

The New York City landmark Pennsylvania Station is getting several new additions and renovations. The plans are quite extensive, with the city planning on a new skylight, a new wing. The Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, states there will be expanded entrances and easier access with the renovations complete. The station connects trains from New York City, Long Island, and sees massive volumes of commuters each year.

Some New Yorkers, however, would prefer the focus of the funds going towards the makeover to instead be used to help keep the trains running smoothly. Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) has been getting lots of criticism in recent times for their mismanagement and slow trains. Often, commuters do not trust that their train will arrive on time, and many would rather see improvements to the system. However, construction is already underway to develop the larger area, and the new Moynihan wing is already in progress. The station is 108 years old, and many also agree that the upgrades are long overdue.
