The latest of The Simpsons‘ long-running “Treehouse of Horror” Halloween specials will be airing on Sunday, October 21st. “Treehouse of Horror XXIX,” as the name would imply, is the 29th installation, and according to promotional material, will include an eating contest against Cthulhu, a Jurassic Park-like retirement home, and an insane Lisa, among other bits.

More interestingly, however, is the revelation that the 30th “Treehouse of Horror” that will air in the show’s next season happens to be the 666th episode of the series. “As we planned it in 1989!” executive producer Al Jean joked about the spooky coincidence. “I’d like to do more seasons, just to ensure that that doesn’t cause the end of the world.” The Simpsons has not yet gotten the green light for a 31st season, though Jean is fairly certain a renewal is in the show’s future.
