Having Trouble Sleeping

Sleep Apnea is a sleeping disorder that disrupts ones breathing while sleeping. As a result, the brain and the rest of the body are hindered from receiving oxygen. It plagues millions of lives, daily. The disease can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure, or a stroke. An innumerable amount of Americans use a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (C.P.A.P.) device to contest the disorder.

Unfortunately, many of them don’t care for the device. According to Cleveland Clinic Innovations, it has been reported that 40 percent of patients refrain from using the product. Claustrophobia dry mouth and nasal congestion are only a few side-effects from usage of the device. Furthermore, (C.P.A.P.) further welcomes an unsettling noise during a patients rest.

Lately, investors have been seeking a less invasive measure to treat this condition. Neuromodulation is an implant in which distributes stimulation to the tongue and throat, to keep airway muscles open at night.

The implant will be mandated by a remote or wearable patch along with being powered by a small battery. By using a breathing sensor, the machine is capable of sensing breathing patterns , which will stimulate the tongue and throat, thus, sustaining the opening of the airway. The systems have received nothing but positive feedback from clinical test. Investors are positive that neuromodulation will dominate the sleep market in 2018.
